Career Timeline of Monjurul Islam Megh:<\/strong><\/div>\n
Megh is a government grant-winning Bangladeshi screenwriter and filmmaker, making history as the first recipient to win the award under the age of 30. Despite political censorship halting his film grants, he remains a powerful pioneer of free thought. Since 2008, he has emerged as a prominent voice in Bangladesh’s literary, artistic, and social sectors.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Today, Megh is a globally recognized cultural and humanitarian figure. He serves as an honorable member of various national and international organizations and has participated in numerous global film festivals as a jury member, coordinator, and delegate.\u00a0He is a versatile multi-hyphenate professional, working as a film director, producer, screenwriter, international jury member, author, journalist, designer, motivational speaker, and social entrepreneur.<\/div>\n

Monjurul Islam Megh<\/span><\/strong> was born on July 31, 1993<\/strong>, in the Bogura district. His father is Abdul Baset<\/strong>, and his mother is Morium Begum<\/strong>.\u00a0His poetic talent flourished during childhood. He began writing poems and rhymes at just 7 years old<\/strong>. While studying in the fifth grade, he wrote short plays and worked as a stage director. By the eighth grade, his poems became widely popular through word of mouth in his local area. During this time, he composed nearly 1,000 poems<\/strong>. He also founded the “Morium Bohumukhi Library”<\/strong> at his home. Starting its journey during his adolescence with his own textbooks and a few literary works, it is now on its way to becoming a large library.<\/div>\n

After his secondary examination, a stage play written and directed by Megh was performed at his educational institution. Before his secondary results were published, he established “Mon Shilpibon”<\/strong> in his village. He arranged short plays and regular cultural activities involving local children. During this period, he wrote and directed three short films\u2014“Roshogolla”<\/strong>, “Bou Chole Gelo”<\/strong>, and “Pathshala”<\/strong>\u2014using a mobile phone. These short films were broadcast on local dish cable channels. At that time, Megh also tried to establish a social organization named “Sobhotay Bachte Chai-Sobai”<\/strong> in his village.<\/div>\n

After passing his secondary examination in 2008<\/strong>, Megh moved from his village to Bogura city. He founded the “Bogura Cultural Society (BCS)”<\/strong>. In 2009<\/strong>, “Mashik Mojar Bogura”<\/strong> was published as the official magazine of this organization. He edited and published 9 consecutive editions<\/strong> of it. The organization was later renamed “Bangladesh Cultural Society (BCS)”<\/strong> in 2014<\/strong>.<\/div>\n

In 2010<\/strong>, Megh organized drama and acting training workshops at his educational institution. Around the same time, he provided theater training to “Nondon Shilpogoshti”<\/strong>. He also emerged as an entrepreneur by founding an organization named “WpC solve”<\/strong>.<\/div>\n

In 2012<\/span><\/strong>, he joined the daily newspaper Dainik Kaler Khobor<\/em> as a Staff Reporter. That same year, he launched World News of Bangladesh (wnewsbd.com)<\/strong>, the first online news portal in Bogura and Northern Bangladesh, serving as its publisher and editor. (The portal’s operations were suspended following his arrest in Bogura under a false case in 2017, but it resumed broadcasting in August 2024<\/strong>).<\/div>\n

He founded the CCIT Training Center<\/strong> in 2013. The following year, in 2014, he became the founder-secretary of the Leo Club of Bogura Ideal<\/strong>. In February of that same year, he published his first research book, “Bogurar Kobi, Shahityik o Shompadok Porichiti”<\/em> (An Introduction to the Poets, Writers, and Editors of Bogura), at the Bogura Book Fair.<\/div>\n

In 2014, he relocated to Savar<\/strong> and entered the teaching profession at a college. During this period, he established “BPI Bondhon”<\/strong> and took on the role of its president.\u00a0Shifting his career from college teaching, he joined “YouYouth”<\/strong> as a motivational speaker in 2015 to train students nationwide, delivering motivational speeches across five districts<\/strong>. He also established the Megh Foundation<\/strong> in 2015.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

On December 17, 2015, he joined the Rainbow Film Society<\/strong> as a Graphic Designer.\u00a0In 2016, he organized a film workshop at the “Sanskrit Bikas Kendra”<\/strong>. That same year, he wrote and directed a street play performed in front of the National Parliament House<\/strong> (Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban).\u00a0In 2017, he directed a documentary on Green Dhaka City<\/strong>, alongside making several other short films. During this period, under the banner of the Megh Foundation<\/strong>\u2014also known as the Moral Education for Growth Humanity Foundation<\/em>\u2014he introduced the Moralook Literature Award<\/strong> at Dipanpur, Katabon, Dhaka. This initiative has now grown into the Moralook International Book Fest<\/strong>.<\/div>\n

Throughout 2017, he expanded his social and cultural footprint by Megh Foundation<\/strong>:<\/div>\n

    • Organizing seminars and discussions focused on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Arranging “Mongolshova”<\/strong>, a regular weekly event at the University of Dhaka<\/strong> that ran for several weeks.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Hosting an open-Air speech competition<\/strong> at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB<\/strong>).<\/span>

      During this time, he also expanded his horizon as an entrepreneur by founding two major ventures:<\/div>\n

      • Moralook Limited:<\/strong> Founded in 2017 and officially registered in 2020.<\/span><\/li>\n
      • CinemaKing Limited:<\/strong> Founded in 2017 and officially registered in 2023.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n
        In 2017, he became the founder-president of the Leo Club of Dhaka Diamon<\/strong><\/span>. That same year, he joined The Parliament Face<\/em> newspaper as an Assistant Editor and simultaneously took on the role of a Consultant at the “Nokkhtro Films”<\/strong>.<\/div>\n

        Since 2018, he has actively served as an international film festival jury member<\/strong> and film distributor. After resigning from both Rainbow and Nokkhtro, he worked independently for a brief period before joining the daily newspaper Dainik Bhorer Alo<\/em> as its Acting News Editor<\/strong> in 2019.<\/div>\n

        In 2020, he received a government grant as a screenwriter and director<\/strong> for the film Bildakini<\/em>. However, due to being flagged in a government gazette as an anti-government writer\u2014under the pretext of his 2017 arrest in Bogura in a politically motivated, harassment-based false case\u2014he was unjustly excluded from the project through irregularities, corruption, and forgery.<\/div>\n

        Undeterred, he went on to establish the CinemaKing International Film Festival<\/strong> and the Bengal Cultural Festival<\/strong> in 2020. This period marked the beginning of his growing recognition as an international film and cultural personality<\/strong>.<\/div>\n
        <\/div>\n
        In 2021, he was promoted to Executive Editor<\/strong> of The Parliament Face<\/em>, a position he successfully held until 2024.\u00a0In 2021, he established the <\/span>Dhaka Festival<\/strong> and founded Boimela Bookshop<\/strong>.<\/div>\n

        He directed his debut full-length feature film, “Moyna,”<\/strong> in 2022. The film was released on February 14, 2025<\/strong>, and went on to win numerous awards across multiple countries. That same year (2022), he founded Cinemaking Film News<\/strong> and secured a contract to write a screenplay for an Australian film.<\/div>\n
        <\/div>\n
        In 2023, he initiated plans and laid the groundwork for an OTT platform named Netsi<\/strong>. He also founded Gift the Food<\/strong> during the same year.\u00a0Driven by a commitment to combat corruption and safeguard democracy, he co-founded the “Gono Oikya Nagorik Platform”<\/strong> (Citizens’ United Platform) in 2023, taking on the role of Member Secretary. Following this, in January 2024, he launched a social movement titled “Protest Against Corruption.”<\/strong><\/div>\n
        <\/div>\n
        As a protest against systematic irregularities, he announced his candidacy for the parliamentary election. Although the then-government unlawfully canceled his valid candidacy, the High Court subsequently restored it. By the time his candidacy was reinstated, there was no time left to campaign, leading him to call for an election boycott and demand that voters film and expose electoral irregularities. Consequently, he directly participated in the 2024 mass uprising, actively building public support through his powerful writings.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

        Following the fall of the then-government in 2024, he successfully revived and reopened all of his previously closed business enterprises.\u00a0<\/span>In 2025, his debut full-length feature film, “Moyna,”<\/strong> was officially released, achieving widespread international success and recognition.\u00a0By 2026, he expanded his footprint as a film producer, producing six full-length feature films<\/strong>:<\/div>\n

          In the same year (2026), he founded two new major corporate ventures: StarBangla Stream Limited<\/strong> and Starmook Limited<\/strong>. These companies actively operate across IPTV, OTT platforms, and news media sectors. In 2026, he founded the Megh Academy, which is operated and managed by the Megh Foundation.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

          Despite facing repeated obstacles from the government and administration throughout his career, Manzurul Islam Megh remained unstoppable. No barrier could hinder the momentum of his work. At just 33 years old, his extensive achievements have earned him substantial national and international success, including serving as a film jury member across multiple countries and winning numerous prestigious awards.<\/div>\n
